A first person horde shooter. It takes place in a world infested with creatures born from darkness. The shadow creatures will do anything in their power to stop you from reigniting the generators and turn on the light.
This was a 7 week team project where it was my job to bring this group together, keep deadlines, plan out the sprints and hold all meetings. I also worked on the project as a creative lead and sound designer.
Some of my core values I want to achieve when working together in a group is:
To achieve this and keeping deadlines I would hold daily standups, track Jira tasks, set up sprints and be in constant communication with the team. At the start of the project, I did a few team building exercises, to relieve some nerves and make everyone comfortable talking, laughing and starting off the project with some fun.
I also asked everyone what their strengths were and what they would like to work with and formed the team after that. I also wanted everyone to be part of pitching ideas for the game and feel like their opinions were heard. And took a vote to narrow down the more popular ideas and that was our start.
I set up Miro for the team where we created a mood board and posted the pitches and more. And Jira was used to create sprints and set milestones and keep track of progress and tasks.
Although I was not the product owner on this project, the PO was away for much of the project where I had to step in and make decisions in his absence so the two of us worked together on this front.
For the sound design I wanted the ambience to feel eerie and haunting. Using wind and rain to fit the stormy night and creating whispery sounds coming from the shadow monsters. Using a mix of natural sounds from the forest and mechanical sound to fit this foreign world. And when the waves of enemies would be triggered, I used drums to get the player feeling excited and get the endorphins pumping.
